Warriors, Steve Kerr Agree to 2-Year, $35M Contract

Golden State Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr have reached an agreement on a two-year, $35 million contract extension.

Kerr will become the highest-paid head coach in NBA history (based on average yearly value) when the deal expires in 2025–2026.

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich makes more annually, sources say, but he holds the dual title of president and coach.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra signed an eight-year extension that pays him approximately $15 million a season, sources said.

Since taking over as head coach of the Warriors in 2014–15, Kerr has guided the team to four NBA championships.

and six Western Conference Championships in his first nine seasons in charge.

The 58-year-old Kerr was a standout student at the University of Arizona before spending six seasons (1988–2003) as an NBA player.

His most famous period was spent with the Chicago Bulls under Michael Jordan, where he helped the team win three straight titles from 1996 to 1998.
